I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend on the Lake.  Wish I still lived there

Has been a great day so far despite it being amateur hour on the lake.

Yea, after the wife and I almost got run over by a big boat, we decided to move.  She has now past and I live at the Armed Services Retirement Home in Gulfport MS.

We sold our place on Lake Martin last Fall after almost 30 years of ownership, partly because of the significant increase in boat traffic (and "amateurs"), but also because of what we were able to get for it.  We then bought a place on Lake Tallassee that is now our primary residence, and while that lake is much smaller, it is also much quieter.  Life in Montgomery was just getting too dangerous so we needed to move and it all came together.  Most boat traffic on Lake Tallassee (officially Thurlow Reservoir) is fishermen headed toward Yates dam, and while the lake is tiny compared to Martin, it is still big enough to take a pleasant boat ride whenever the mood strikes.

BTW, John Coley was our realtor for the Lake Martin cabin sale and I highly recommend him for anyone who decides to sell their place.  He KNOWS Lake Martin and found a buyer for us at a very favorable sale price.

We live in Sandy Creek and it isn't as bad as other areas of the lake...yet.  We were commenting that if we lived here full time we would go on vacation the week of the 4th and leave the lake to idiot boaters.  Other weekends are for the most part fine.

The only way I sell my house is to move into another on the lake or when we pack it in for good.  Glad your move worked out well for you!
