Saw a snake yesterday in the water, just out from my floating dock. I think that it was a southern water snake, what do y'all think?
It was banded and brightly colored orange/pink. It caught a small fish underwater and swam over to the shore to eat it. All the while we were watching it, talking, and it was not frightened of us. After consuming the fish, it swam back out, underwater, and surfaced again near our floating dock. it then raised up out of the water about 1/4 of the way, and swam directly towards us, then went under the floating dock; It was about 3 feet long.
I say southern water snake, since it swam under water and was fairly aggressive towards us.
