New Android phones will have this technology soon. T-Mobile is also implimenting the technology on their network, but that doesn't do a lot of good here for full timers (good news for visitors though). From what I'm hearing on the subject, Verizion seems to be taking the stance that they don't need the technology because of their network (that will probably change, but will also slow things down for their customers that would benifit)....maybe you should argue the point with them since your service always works except for when you need it. After years of Verizon (and a short and very hard to recomend stint with Sprint), I've had good very good luck with AT&T since we switched in April. Their rural network has gotten much better over the last few years, but It still doesnt equally match Verizon in the lake area. At our house, I'd describe my service as 99% reliable... but there are rare times (like yours) that it goes a little funky (It is good enough that I don't need a land line though).
