Summer takes a toll on them. Surface temps near 90 degrees results in low oxygen levels to support these larger fish. They run deeper in the summer but even in deeper water it can be tough to find oxygen rich water. Also most that are caught and released this time of year will die. The stress of a fight along with the high surface temp and low oxygen is a death sentence.
