I'm looking at a piece of waterfront property on Lake Martin that only has about 5 feet of water depth when the lake is full. When the lake is low it looks like you have to go out about 30-40 feet before you hit water.

How hard is it to get permission to dredge along the property line to try and get a little more depth? Is Alabama Power easy to deal with? Is it terribly expensive? Is there a way I could estimate roughly what it might cost me? Is dredging something that I might be able to do myself? (I know how to operate tractors, backhoes, etc)

These are just some issues I'm thinking of before I decide whether or not to buy the property. Thanks for any info you can share.
