I thnk that would depend on the strength of your lift, the weight of your boat, the value of your boat, how protected your dock is from the NE winds, and how much of a chance you are willing to take. In a very strong wind (which will most likely come out of the NE), the boat/lift will swing dramatically.

One that I know of broke a cable in Frances and that caused the boat to be launched aft end down, into the water. The owner was there to remedy the situation right away and prevent further damage.

Ivan is bigger and more powerful than Opal was - we all remember Opal. It just doesn't pay to take any chances.
