Subject:   depth finder necessary?
Date:   5/27/2005 7:56:44 PM

I have been boating for a couple of years on Smith Lake, which is so deep that a depth finder is not necessary. I will be on Lake Martin this summer (lucky me!!!) and from what I remember there are some shallow spots. I want to get a depth finder.

I have a 10 year old Bayliner runabout. How hard is it to install one of those small 2inch jobs? Should I use a portable (how does that work?) Or do most people on Martin use these at all?

Any advice would be appreciated. Looking forward to my time on the lake more than you can imagine.
