Thank you for your response. The inhospitable previous poster made me wonder if I had made a mistake by choosing to visit Lake Martin. Perhaps that poster is also unaware of the fact that while a depth indicator is unnecessary at Smith, it is essential (in my view) at Lay Lake due to the many unmarked obstacles. I'm pleased to know that the obstacles are well marked on Martin.

I hope to meet many well-meaning, friendly people during my visit to the lake. Thanks for your advice.
