Everyone wants what they want.
"Everyone already knows I supported the new law. So I will stir the pudding a little in a different direction."
You supported something YOU wanted. Others supported something THEY wanted. We are all willing to make concessions, as long as it doesn't pinch us too much. Let's all just realize that's the way it is.
My middle schoolers used to be so concerned about the way they acted, the way they looked, self-conscious. I would tell them that no one is really looking and analyzing them as much as they think. BECAUSE they are thinking the same thing about themselves - the way they acted, they way they looked, self-conscious. We are all thinking about 'us' - not plurally - but singularly. Yeah, we think of others, but the majority of the time, it's about me, myself, and I (and my family and others like me.)
There are some martyrs. I'll concede to that.
You can't tell me I am wrong about this.(See? I WANT you to agree with me.) It's human nature. Self- preservation. Survival of the fittest. I need, I want, I am.
Now, I am not saying how they go about it is morally right. Just saying we all WANT what we want.
