It is I, and I will be building from scratch. And thank you for asking - I need all the input I can get! The property is approximately 250' along the lakefront by approximately 350' up a gently sloping terrain. There is a 1950's Jim Walters cabin on the property, which will be demolished. Four new lots will be established along the lakefront and I will build above those lots, at a higher elevation, so I will - hopefully - still maintain my view of the lake. This is where I will probably retire to in 5 to 10 years, so I am looking for plans that include a main level bedroom, with a couple more bedrooms in either a loft or an upstairs location, probably no more than 1250 s.f. total. I'm not looking to build the Taj Mahal, but neither do the neighbors want to see a lean-to.. Have looked at hundreds of plans on-line and found a few there as well as in a couple of books. I need a house plan, I'm told, and either a builder or a general contractor. My inexperience in building is the biggest drawback. Builder or contractor? Choose my own subs? I don't know any... Any and all suggestions, names, numbers, etc., are welcome.
