That truly is disturbing. First I might say that the snake was probably still recovering from hibernation or was just as afraid of the kids as they were of it. The next thing is I would explain to the kids to NEVER PICK UP A SNAKE OF ANY KIND unless they are in a controlled enviroronment with someone trained for that situation. Even though it apprears to be dead, a venomous snake is still dangerous and the poison can be injected if someone gets near the head. Keep in mind that any snake will bite in a given situation.
I just don't want your kids to get hurt.
