-I have a 2-slip dock made by Free State Boat Docks. It was here when I bought the house. It's about 8 years old, and I'm very happy with it (knock on wood!). Don't know how others feel.
-I've never heard of a build-your-own, but sounds like it might be fun, ..if you have a lot of experience in that area. From my view, a lot depends where your dock will be situated. If you're in an area where there is a lot of wake activity, you want to make sure you have some serious welding or bolting. From what I'm told by long-time lake dwellers, wakes put a lot of stress on dock joints and poorly built docks will eventuaally split where joints weren't done well.
-Good Luck!
