"Cooling Towers the Answer for Higher Smith Lake Levels, Alabama Power Company Admits.
Limiting the amount of water that may be released from Smith will prevent Gorgas Steam Plant from being able to operate. Alabama Power would be required to design, construct and operate cooling towers at the
Gorgas Steam Plant". This statement was copied from SLISA's web site today.

Why has it been so difficult for APC to be truthful with SLISA and property owners on Smith Lake. It has been theorizzed for the past few years that the Gorgas Plant cannot operate without the massive releases from Smith Lake during the hot months. Thee truth is finally out. Cooling towers appear to be the solution to the extreme water fluctuations on Smith Lake.

It's time for APC to mosey up to the bar and do what a good corporate citizen would do. The citizenry of this area understaands what has been going on. It's time for them to stop playing games.

And, by the way - since TVA is lowering electricity prices because of lower fuel cost, why would APC not consider the same?
