-Of course there are many ways to sought minds. -But given that you want to just use the two categories above, I think we should add teh characteristic of "transiency." (Change?) -A conservative's conservatism changes over time, reluctantly, but eventually. Conservatives who wouldn't except showing some ankle at teh beach in 1900, accepted one-piece bathing suits by 1940 (did they ever accept itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikins?). Conservatives who wouldn't accept Sociel Security in 1940, wouldn't let you take it away in 1990. BUt politically, conservatives dems and repubs morph with time, always staying on the conservative end of teh political parties. Their ideas change, but they are still political conservatives. -Liberal -A liberal's liberalism changes over time too, drawing conservatives with it. BUt history indicates that that liberalisms morphs into socialism. Now the strange thing is --that's when change stops. When parties and then countries become socialist-to-communist, these parties or countries no longer allow liberal thinkers. these parties and countries only then allow conformist or "conservative" thinkers, those that will no longer politic for further change, but rather are willing to now conform to central thinking, in other words become conservative. That is why every full-fledged socialist-to-communist country eventually becomes a dictatorship (e.gs. from Russia to Cuba). -look to our present socialists in politics and academie. Almost none of them can accept any questioning against central orthodoxy, ...for example, the present socialist administration's war on Fox and that war's leader's respect for Mao and his rule. -liberals. who are students of history, should be worried.
