Sad to say - this was not too long ago. When I was in high school, I took a Remington 1100 12 gauge to school for a speech class demonstration on how to clean a shotgun. I was too young to drive, so I walked to the bus stop, and carrying the cased shotgun, and got on the bus. When I got to the school I checked the gun at the office. I then checked it out for my speech. After speech class, I took it back to the office, and dropped it off until I was leaving school, when I picked it back up and rode the bus back to the bus stop, then walked home. This was 1977 – not too long ago, but centuries from today. It was a time in which we were held responsible for our actions and machines were not blamed for all that is wrong with society. I had parents that held ME responsible for what I did and punished ME for my transgressions. That shotgun sits in the gun safe behind me as I type and after thousands of rounds has never threatened me or my family. For Christmas, my wife gave me a new .22 and a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun…. I am a lucky man.
