U.S Coast Guard Rear Admiral Mary Landry said “the government had all the assets it needed”.

But… controlled burns using fire boom (an asset of first use) could have possibly contained the spill (95%) and it is spelled out in a 1994 Federal spill response plan.

Fire boom is now in route after being borrowed from a South American country.

Questions?

Why was this plan not implemented?
Why did the Coast Guard not have a Fire Boom available?
Why did the company which developed this system have to do a world search?
