I think it would depend on what time of year you were fishing. If you read that report I linked below, you can tell where they might be according to season. I do think that many of the more successfull stripe fishermen spend a lot of time running fast and looking for the stripes via sonar. That might not be possible with a kayak, but if you start in a likely spot, maybe you'd have luck. This site has boat ramps noted all around the lake.
