We have always used minnows on a small hook with a bamboo pole and bobber. Great success! (I have never been able to find a jig that worked as good, but I'm open to ideas). Put a small lead weight about 8-12 inches from the hook and minnow. Start at about 3-5 feet down above sunken trees and debris and move up or down depending on where you are getting hits. Once you find the zone, you will catch MANY Crappie.
