This legislation has nothing to do with safety, enviromental concerns, or degredation of the lakes. This law is intended to limit the size and horsepower of boats in order to lure a developer to develop a Reynold's Plantation like community that exists at Lake Oconee in GA.(a much smaller lake). I looked at the bio page of the legislators that introduced this bill: Dial is a "self employed real estate developer." and Laird is "President of Ranco Inc., a real estate and development co." No I don't own a cat boat but don't mind if people do. My 28 ft boat is a pontoon.
