(When you talk about truth like that, you open up even bigger philosophical questions that I got tired of thinking about a long time ago. We are taught that we deserve the truth, and I still cherish the thought of an absolute, but human minds are frail and not up to this - that is where faith comes in. Remember Jack Nicholson's line,,,,
The truth is what they allow us to see. I can't help but be skeptical when it comes to these people, as it seems as if everyone of them is elected not just to a public position, but to a social caste that is isolated from the rest of America. The money and power involved is astounding, even with local governments, much less the federal. The only time they go home is when the power corrupts them to the point of obvious crime, or they lose the will to continue the ruse. Even then, none of them go back to work in Home Depot or teach 5th grade Social Studies....... Even lottery winners sometimes end up penniless, but a government job and its perks takes away almost all risks of economic, social, and health misfortunes.
But my question still is this: Is that what we need in a government? A permanent class of people who can think for us, predict for us, and act for us? And should we subsidize their every want and need in the good faith that they will sincerely approach and accomplish their charge?
