I completely agree that we need to move forward with more nuclear power but we need to learn all we can from what is going on in Japan.

Hound, you mentioned not wanting them in California because of earthquakes.  First of all that really applies to the entire west coast as it is all along a subduction zone.  Secondly, probably the biggest earthquake threat from a severity standpoint is actually in the middle part of the country with the New Madrid Fault Zone (centered in Missouri).  The west coast has the frequency of earthquakes as well as intensity but New Madrid will have the intensity, maybe not like Japan, but still very strong.  The last major event was in 1811-1812 and was a series of earthquakes registering 7-8 on the Richter scale.  Made the Mississippi River reverse its course.

Anyway, enough of the geology lesson but we definitely need to promote the use of nuclear power.
