Interesting observation from the Mt. St. Helens eruption. My uncle is a wheat farmer in central Washington. When it blew there was real concern about the ash covering already planted fields. Turned out they had a bumper crop that year. They think the ash sealed in moisture and provided additional nutrients. Not saying that would be the result if Yellowstone went off but it seems like a certain amount of ash isn't always a problem and may actually be beneficial.
