Its amazing to watch this and fascinating to boot. We now have Biden attacking McCain and Obama attacking Palin. This is the most interesting turn of events that I have ever seen in a Presidential election. Obama running against Palin really diminishes him and it is having an effect.
I think the greatest risk of this tact is that Biden (old, Washington establishment, consistently wrong on big foreign policy issues, etc.) not stack up well against McCain (old, reputation as a Maverick, for the cold war, initial proponent of the surge, etc.) and Obama's message of hope and change has been entirely blunted by the addition of Palin (who has actually demonstrated that she can create change). So now we are to the point of arguing about whose experience makes them better suited for the White House, the Presidential candidate for the Dems or the VP candidate for the other side. I don't think McCain could have scripted this any better. Its no wonder he is smiling a lot these days.
I still believe the odds are better than 50/50 for Obama to win this thing but it is close enough to be anyone's guess. Who would have thought this is where we would be 6 months ago? And look at the brightened picture with the House and Senate races, Republicans now have the lead in the generic vote and Dems only have a small lead in party affiliation. These are all the same circumstances we had in 2000 and 2004 when Bush was elected.
By the way, message to the serial flamers: if you flame every post just because you disagree or don't like the poster you will render this meaningless. Besides, I tend to always look at the flamed post to see what they said that deserved a flame.
