I fished up on Irwin Shoals on Sunday with my fly rod. Got skunked. I was only up there two or three hours, really. At first I tried to paddle in the shoals with my kayak and fish. Mistake. The current is too strong for me to keep in one spot, and it's mostly three feet deep so I was snagging every cast.

Then I waded, it was much more manageable to actually fish while wading. Still did not cover too much ground because I started too close to sundown. I saw a boat fisherman target the bank opposite of Jaybird, they must have caught something because they stayed a while.

My brother in law did pretty well on river above the shoals today, on spotted bass, with a white curly tailed grub.
