to see that, despite the current water level being about 5' below last year's watermark on our dock, everyone in our slough was out in their boats, jetskis, pontoon boats, etc. So, if I had a boat, I would be able to use it! But the water was COLD! All in all, it was a fantastic weekend! Weather was so pleasant, that we had open windows rather than air conditioning at night.
We did locate the New Market at Kudzu Corner. This was after driving about 40 miles out of the way because I turned off Hwy 50 onto 229, not realizing that 50 becomes 229 at Red Hill. Oh well, saw some pretty country and a couple of other little roadside places that I will explore on a later trip. While I was totally underwhelmed with the muffelattas at New Market (not nearly enough olive salad!), we bought what I initially thought was a lemon pie, that turned out to be a banana puddin' pie (banana pudding in a buttery graham cracker crust = YUMMMMMMM).
Dinner Saturday night at YellowHammer was spectacular, as always. All in all - a very memorable Memorial Day weekend. Hope everyone else had as good a time as we did!
