The last couple of days the surface activity has been off . The spots have been bunched up in tight packs and suspended . They have been hammering a hopkins shorty dropped vertically . Also, I have been getting better bites on the worm by sitting in the shallower side of a ledge and casting into deeper water and dragging up slope . Usually I sit on the deep side and throw into the shallower water and work down . I'm going to experiment more on this but for now it seems to work better for me bringing it up slope regardless of wind direction . One slope I'm working is where I throw into about 40 feet and come up to the top side at about 20 or less . Another is from about 30 up to about 5 . On both I get bit more coming up after trying both ways . Just a thought . It may be coincidental . Calm winds today . I am about to head out . I expect the surface bite to be back on . Water temp is about 75 and the level is down about 3 feet .
A note to those who have been griping about how I write reports . If you don't like it , don't read it . I average about 6 hours a day on the water generally in a morning session and again late afternoon .
