PPI was up a lot more than anticipated and CPI remains above 8% YOY. And idiot DJ said yesterday that the price increases were "temporary".......I guess a better word than transitory which was also dead wrong. I actually had hoped the interest rate increase would have some dampening effect on inflation but I guess when you dump $7T into the economy over 2 years you have way too many dollars chasing the same or fewer goods.........inflation. About all the Fed can try to do is reduce demand.....recession. But according to the idiot DJ we will only have a little recession.......hint, we already are in a recession and if the folks at BofA are to be believed 2023 is going to be much worse than this year.
The housing market is already cratering and it seems that the job cuts are coming as demand does get lowered. Intel laid of workers due to a slump in computer sales. People are looking at the 20% drop in their investments and are hunkering down on the spending. Retirees are going back to work and many re delaying theirs because of the loss in their investments and inflation. In short, we are repeating history here and are getting the same predictable, ugly, awful results.
