Stand back and watch them, see where the main tunnel to the nest is, and try pouring a cup of gasoline into the tunnel.   A coke bottle makes a fine exterminator.   Apply the gas by jamming the bottle into the hole.  The bugs will be less active in the evening hours.      No need to light the gas because the fumes seem to kill the colony... or at least make them move on. 

My dog us usually smarter than I am about getting away from them quickly.
