I have been a home owner on Smith Lake for over 20 years. In that time I have seen development ramp up to the point where density has become a real issue. The lake traffic with boats and pwc have become congested to the point where traffic is ridiculously busy and water has gone to a medium chop - ocean like swell almost every weekend.

I have never joined the Lake Association because quite frankly the lake can not take much more development. If we had huge expansive open areas the lake could handle a dense development plan but with our configuration it can not. While I am lucky have good water year round I am afraid that keeping water levels in the 505-510 range till labor day will ramp up even more development and diminish the good qualities of the lake even more than they already have.
