Maybe so but I believe you would get the same level of protection if they just cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze.  My main objection to the masks is them giving people a false sense of security.  If they also observe all the other precautions they certainly do no harm......but may not do much good either.  To each his own but I am not going to bother with them unless they are mandated....assuming you can even get one these days.
