Hmmm…
I have attended multiple concealed carry courses… conducted by law enforcement professionals. I have decades of weapons training in the military (including urban combat, range safety, and especially target engagement).
I seriously doubt any preconception that the police will capriciously engage and destroy any person who looks like he might have a weapon. THAT flies in the face of ALL weapons training I have ever attended. They have been taught to IDENTIFY their target BEFORE they shoot.
Firstly, you will not have any problem discerning that the police have arrived. The moment you see them (as is likely the moment they see you) do the following:
1 – Immediately place you weapon (visibly) on the floor. Don’t look or act like a target.
2 – Put and keep your hands up where they can see them.
3 - Step away from your weapon.
4 – Follow their instructions to the letter.
You will likely be handcuffed and taken to a cruiser. That is not unusual. They will question you.
Your mission WAS to stop the active shooter. When the police arrived, it became THEIR mission.
If all of the above is not crystal clear to you:
1 – You NEED firearms training by a qualified professional if you carry.
2 – And YOU are the WRONG person to respond with a weapon.
I have many friends in law enforcement. I will ask about your expectation.
