Chile's recovery efforts for the 33 miners were successful because:

1. Chile's President utilized resources and technology from at least 12 different countries.
2. Experts from Chile's Mining Industry were in charge.
3. Multiple plans were formulated.
4. The total country was behind the efforts

So, what can this country learn from Chile if we ever have another disaster similar to BP. It's obvious.

1. Get the politician out of the room.
2. Have a President who is competent.
3. Use available  resources, internal and external
4. Planning by experts
5. Blaming others is not the solution.
6. It's OK to fly the flag.
