You know, I'm really a mixture. I'm definitely a fiscal conservative. I'm not in favor of a big government, and I don't think more government is the solution to the problems. I don't believe you can legislate people's behavior. I didn't necessarily support the bailouts, but I don't think I know enough to say 100% it wasn't necessary. I'm very skeptical of the amount of "charity" that the US gives out to foreign countries. I think we need to consider the quid pro quo. But in some ways, I'm a social liberal. I think there are merits to some social programs, particularly as they relate to children and the elderly. I did think that health care needed reform, but not the health care reform that we eventually got. I'd like to see Obamacare scrapped and for them to start again. I'd like to see reforms in malpractice suits. I'm in favor of a strong policy on immigration. I don't think that illegals should have "rights" to education and healthcare. I don't necessarily think that tax cuts are the only solution. In fact, about now, I'm in favor of increasing taxes specifically to reduce the deficit. And of course, I'm in favor of a strong defense, but I see a lot of cuts that could be made. In fact, I read an article this morning by Lawrence Kolb that I found made a lot of sense about defense cuts. As far as foreign policy, I don't believe that the US can be all things to all people. I don't think we should mettle in other country's politics. I'm not as strong on Israel as a lot of people, nor am I as hard on the Middle East as some people. But, I think we have to realize that they don't love us and will never love us, no matter what we do.
