I think people prefer to feel like they have a choice of candidates that bring different skills and perspectives to the table for consideration.  I cannot imagine why there are no Democrats that feel that Hilary is beatable.  It's imconprehensible.  The Clintons, both Hilary and Bill, are known for playing fast and loose with the truth and for saying whatever they think people want to hear.  By the end of Bill Clinton's term, people were just ready to be done with the Clintons, between his sex scandal and her grabbing everything she could claiming it was personal gifts and not official gifts.  Leopards don't change their spots.
