Hey, Hound. Like you, I never thought of the product or the logo in racial terms. I can see in today's environment how this image could be offensive, especially to those who are looking for things to be offended about. Her story as you've depicted it may not be completely accurate according to what I've heard and read as she was quite the celebrity in her day making all kinds of appearences and becoming an advocate for poor blacks, especially the children. She helped start a huge church in Chicago and became a missionary. Seems that she had a very interesting and financially successful life as the first African American to be the logo for a major American corporation.
