It is again about leadership Archie. Simply because she may spend more weekends at home than I do (which I doubt), does not make her a competent mayor or leader. Case in point, WAYS took me through some back roads yesterday through Lakewood, Pryor Street neighborhoods in order to avoid connector traffic as I made my way to meet family in Buckhead for dinner. I and another vehicle stopped at an intersection south of the capitol. While waiting for the light to change, four upstanding "yutes" in loud dirt bikes, face coverings and bandanas pulled in front of our two cars lined up, side by side at a 45 degree angle, essentially blocking us in. I could see the female driver next to me close her windows with a somewhat frightened look on her face as these citizens raced their engines and stared back at us. This is occurring in broad daylight mind you. As the light turned, they turned and raced across the intersection with no regard to oncoming traffic. Being familiar with the Grady area, nothing really surprises me, however, is this a small microcosm of what Atlanta has become? The license plate of the woman next to me was from Florida. She was most likely following directions from an app as well. Shirtless joggers with little regard for vehicle traffic on Peachtree Street in Buckhead near upscale shops and hotels? And don't even ask me about the atmosphere in Buckhead last weekend during the NBA All Star weekend.
Yes Archie, most people with more than one home do spend time at both residences. Taking a cue from Dems, (Trump was also criticized for his time at the Florida White House in Mar-a-Lago and for playing golf, remember?) criticism of the Mayor of Atlanta is certainly fair game when one sees the condition of her city. Buckhead secession? Great idea. Could not happen fast enough. Let the communities surrounding Atlanta try to recover with competent leadership while the city proper squanders its heritage with consistent selection of Mayors and city council members with limited abilities and vision.
