I have to say that I have never understood their hatred of GMOs, but I think you raise a valid point.  Keep in mind that these are the same people that pursue IVF and would manipulate the sex of their child if that was a thing.  They are so sharp that they know when a 5 year old has been born the wrong sex and are anxious to correct God's error.
