We just got power restored after 36 hours. According to Alabama Power website there were thousands of homes without power, just around the lake. All of Stillwaters (1250+ homes) and The Ridge (700+) were without power for 36 hours also. Newspaper said there were 3,000 to 4,000 homes affected for extended time. While I’m well aware that large areas can have power shut down by single pole down, but our area has three outages in the past 6 months that were all created by DEAD PINE TREES that fell off property owned by guess who…Alabama Power. These outages all occurred within 200 yards on the same road. If APC would maintain their land better we wouldn’t have so many outages.
Just wonder….how many outages were caused by dead APC owned trees falling on powerlines. I’m not talking about the trees killed by APC’s buzz saw, that’s a whole different problem. Our problem is dead trees on their property, not right away. These appear to be trees infected by pine beetles years ago. Our outage also broke two old, rotten power poles.
