Somebody replied to me in private for some reason and he said:

"The reason is that we really haven''t had much rain. In fact, for the months from November 1 to the end of March, this is by far the lowest inflow to the lake since it was built - half of the previous record in 2007-2008, and less than one fifth of a normal good year."

And the local weathermen have confirmed that although Atlanta and most of Georgia had a good amount of rain this winter, parts of North Georgia had a severe drought and unfortunately that is Lake Lanier's watershed.
