During WW I a sentry was on guard duty one night when he sees the glow of a cigarette. He yelled, "Hay, you stupid sob. Put out the light. Do you want to get shot?"

He hears foot steps and up walks Gen. Black Jack Pershing, the Comander of the Allied  Expeditionary Force!

"Oh my God," the sentry thougt. "I am dead!'

"Soldier," said Pershing, " You were right telling me to put out that cigarette. I shouldn't have been smoking here. Just thank God, though, it wasn't a lieutenant!"
