An Irishman named Paddy recently moved to Kilarney and found a local pub to have his daily drink. When he went in the first time he ordered 3 pints, sat and drank them. After several days doing the same thing the bartender said to him, "Now Paddy, why not let me pour your pints as you finish them as they'll be nice and fresh?" Paddy looked at him a replied, "No thank yeh laddie, yeh see, my two brothers and I always shared a pint together. One of them is in the Merchant Marines and the other moved to America. So when we go to the pub we always order 3 pints like we did when we were together." The bartender nodded and a bit of tear welled up in his eyes thinking about how much Paddy loved his brothers and missed them.
One week Paddy showed up for his usual beers but only ordered two. He did this several days in a row and as word got around the village they assumed he had lost a brother and started to send cards and flowers to the pub for Paddy to comfort him in his moment of sadness. Finally after a couple of days of this Paddy looked at the bartender and asked him, "So tell me laddie, what's with all the flowers and cards?" The bartender looked at him and said, "Oh Paddy, those are for you. When you started to order two pints instead of three we assumed you lost one of your beloved brothers." Paddy looked at him and replied, "Oh no laddie, my borthers are well and healthy. It's just that my doctor told me I needed to give up drinking!"
