Due to a widespread network outage currently affecting the Lake Martin Area, the
Alexander City Police Department is re-routing 9-1-1 calls through an office in
Talladega.
Chief Willie G. Robinson said a dispatcher has been sent to the
office to take care of local calls.
“Any 9-1-1 calls will be linked back to
us, and we are going to make sure it is taken care of,” Robinson
said.
Robinson said the officers Southern Linc devices and in-car radios have
not been affected and are still operational.
More officers have been called
in to patrol, Robinson said, during the duration of the outage.
