Says who? If you wash and rinse properly there is no issue and besides that some manufacturers now use nylon line instead of cotton thread. My answer to where you can buy it is everywhere.  Just mix your own bleach with some laundry detergent and clean away. Do the whites in your laundry disintegrate when you wash them with bleach? Remember that bleach is only 6% active ingredient so mix accordingly. You should never need stranger than 10% bleach for the toughest of jobs.
