It looks funny or seems strange at this point, but that was an Alabama Power press release on the 21st. Dought severity classifications are evaluated on a twelve-month rainfall deficit scale. There is a U.S. Dought Monitor that graphically illustrates this measurement (run by USDA and NOAA). The link below shows the current Alabama detail. They publish a new map every Tuesday so we'll see improvements tomorrow.

With that being said... I see that Alabama is getting another gully washer today!
