I tend to agree with the discouragement you are feeling.   But my take is that electing a democratic government to run the largest enterprise ever known to mankind is really akin to steering a battleship.   Our political choices pull us in a particular direction, but don't provide quick and decisive changes.   For my part, I will simply vote for the person/party that will steer us in the direction I think we need to go... with all due respect for the fallable nature of politicians.
