Of course there is a lot of “I think” and “I believe” in my posts! A public forum was about sharing your opinions, right? I recognize disagreements, they are pretty obvious to spot on this forum. I am certainly not calling anyone an idiot if they disagree with me.
No, I really don’t think Trump has upset the status quo for the good of the country, you’ll have to give me examples of what you mean. Not at all. He is rapidly bringing out the worst in us and playing up some dangerous themes to rally his base… like degrading a Free Press, or attacking the Judiciary, etc. I am not in favor of “dismantling the administrative state” because nobody knows what Steve Bannon means by that. I am amazed at the stock market’s rally, it was unexpected and (I think) based on some sort of irrational exuberance. I don’t think it’s going to last, honeymoons don’t. Do you think Trump’s frequently contradictory & confusing public statements (like his health care policy ideas) are inspiring confidence in him as a leader of the international business community?
No, I don’t think Trump has placed the US in a position of increased respect around the globe, and I never bought the idea that we were the world’s doormat anyway. Just the opposite, we have been the world’s undisputed leader. That leadership seems to be unraveling now. For instance, under Trump’s leadership our allies are experiencing a good bit of uncertainty about what he might do. (understandable enough, WE aren’t sure what he might do either). If uncertainty among allies is a good idea in a world full of trip-wires, you will have to explain it to me. And I don’t have confidence in Trump’s ability to be a wise & steady handed military leader either… so it’s good he has a strong team of generals around him. But his decision making ability should be making people worried. In my opinion, of course.
