We were cruising along in our pontoon boat headed home yesterday and saw two jet skis driven by men with teenage boys on the back ofeach. They were flying around at full throttle just looking straight ahead. I commented to my friend that they apparently weren't paying for the gas. A few minutes later one of them was approaching us from the rear going full speed and literally came within a couple of feet of the rear of the boat when he veered off and soaked the people in the back of the boat. Been here for 20 plus years and have never seen anything so reckless or dangerous....not even from a teenager.
I was so angry and started to follow them when my wife threw a fit and convinced me to turn and head home. I wanted to get their boat ID so I could report them to the Marine Police (which I know would have been a waste of time). To the extent they didn't hit someone and cause serious injuries or worse is nothing short of a miracle. I know holiday weekends bring out the rank amateurs but this was something else. I would say I was not sure what they were thinking but that would give them too much credit.....clearly their brains were in neutral. And all that risk to jump a tiny wake behind a pontoon boat. I'll keep my eyes open for them this coming weekend and if they are around and doing the same thing I'll call the MP for sure.
