24 Aug 2010 - Tims Ford Lake - Today was a split day between two local lakes with John from Brentwood who wanted to get some fishing in before starting his new job next week.  We started on Tims Ford at daylight.  Caught several nice smallmouths on football head jigs and T-rig soft plastics.  Water temp started out at 83.6 degrees and rouse to 87 by noon in the mid lake area.  We fished steep rock backs...we found in order to get bit you needed some type of wood in the mix.   Water clarity ranges from 1-2 feet in the Elk River area to 3-5 feet down lake...
24 Aug 2010 - Woods Res -
After taking a break for lunch we loaded up and headed for Woods Reservoir....the first things we noticed was the water was high (about 6-10 inches) and stained throughout the lake.  With a strong northerly wind I took John to the willow grass beds where on the first cast he hooked up with a 2 pound Largemouth.  We continued to cover water and caught several fish on (John's favorite) T-rigged plastic's, jigs, and spinner baits.  Water temp upon our launch was 85.6 degrees and climbed to 88.9 at 6pm when we departed the lake.  Our best fish came from hard cover (docks/laydowns) with grass around them.  The deeper bite just did not produce today.
21 Aug 2010 - Tims Ford - Spent the morning on Tims Ford...Water temp is 88.2 and fairly clear all over.  Fish where active early this morning we caught 15 nice keeper size fish on Black Shad Culpurt 10" worns and Flukes.  2 of the 15 where 18-19 inches smallmouth.  Fish are holding in 15-20 foot of water around secondary points.  Saw a nice school of stripers up in front of Devils step...
