First of all this is not a paid endorsement.....not that I wouldn't be happy for some cash.....but I have had yet another positive experience with Cathouse Marine. First he recommended a repair to our gimble bearing instead of replacing the housing. Savings: $3,200. Next he repaired a part rather than replacing it. Savings: $800. This is how a business should be run. Thanks Steve! And yes, I once again freely admit that I married way over my head both in looks and brains. The good Lord takes care of children, old folks and fools.....pretty sure where I am on they list.

Thanks you Old Fool.  (just kidding).  And yes, the Lord does take care of us indeed.  Today I shall not work, but serve him all day pulling kids from Vacation Bible School  (Centerpoint Fellowship Church) on tubes, and taking them for rides in the Cat Boat all day at Lake Jordan.  What a great day it is to give back what has been givin' to me.

OK OK OK, we all know how great, and awesome, and wonderful Steve is, we get that!! My question would be which idiot said you needed a transom assembly instead of changing a faulty gimbal bearing? Not trying to take anything away from Steve, but is he so awesome, or are others so ignorant?? Jeff Harris

You know that answer will never be posted.  You and I have talked about this.  You, I am sure would have done exactly what I did.  You run your shop just as I do.  See ya next Tuesday.  I am in Prattville for a few days.

I feel compelled to provide some additional detail. What was happening is we were going through a gimble bearing every year or two. Part of the reason was the housing was worn a bit and the OEM bearing didn't have to be pounded in, it just slid in and was not a tight fit. The solution proposed was a new housing so I would not characterize the recommendation as idiotic. What Cat did was install a slightly larger bearing that was not OEM to resolve the looseness issue. So far so good. No need to mention the name of the shop because what they recommended was not ridiculous, they just didn't think outside the box.
