I have 2 - 4inch PVC post at my dock that have rebar and concrete inside of them. They have held up really good over the years. I also drilled a mobile home anchor into the ground 2 years ago. I am upgrading my tethering method. I am going to use some type of cable (25feet) and I would like to use some form of a spring or shock at the center tie down of the front of the boat to avoid damaging the tie down.

The anchor is in the ground about 20 feet in front of the boat. The cable will run from the anchor and attach to the front/center tie down on the boat. This will keep my post from taking a beating when the 4 foot waves come through but I dont want it to be so tight that it damages my front/center tie down.

Asking for ideas on the size and type of cable and what type of spring or shock could I use to soften the snatching that wil be taking place...

      Thoughts?

     Bzzzzzzzzzzz

For the shock, look at a snubber.
